Why Do Business If You Don’t Do It For Good?

Our culture at YOURGB is all about loving what we do and loving the clients we work with. We appreciate a lot of companies may say that, but this is something we live and breathe every day. We feel that YOURGB has the opportunity to share our love all across the world. So how do we do this in an industry where we can be spinning multiple plates?

B1G1

Since 2016, for every event we create, we pay it forward by supporting a chosen charity through the B1G1 platform. B1G1 offers projects in support of the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations General Assembly.

We have achieved some amazing results since the start of this initiative. We are proud to acknowledge our work helping to make a difference for people living in difficulties in the UK, Cambodia, Australia, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, Indonesia, New Zealand and India.

How do we do it? Here are just some examples of the innovative ways we help communities throughout the world.

TURNING ALCOHOL INTO LIFE SAVING WATER

Working with a number of drinks brands, YOURGB has donated part of the events’ profits to fund the instalment of two new water wells in a village in Ethiopia. In addition, we donated money to 10 individual families living over 5,000 miles away in India giving them access to water in their own homes, with the installation of water taps.

At the beginning of 2019, through our work with another drinks brand, a portion of the event profit provided people in the heart of Malawi with 365 days of access to life-saving clean water.

SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Over the past few years, some of the profit from working with food and drinks providers, gave us the chance to feed an orphaned or at-risk child in Thailand. Also, to serve 4,000 meals to underprivileged children in India, by contributing one month’s salary of a school cook. We also had the amazing opportunity to provide hot meals for one week to someone living in food poverty in Gloucestershire and to provide a family with 24 meals worth of maize in Kenya.

FROM EVENT ORGANISATION TO BETTER HEALTH AND EDUCATION

Through our business, we have had the opportunity to improve education in Kenya by maintaining a school building and providing textbooks for one year for unprivileged children. We have provided a safe space, counselling and constructive learning activities for a child for six months that had experienced significant trauma in Vietnam. We also helped to provide a college trainee with a bicycle to commute to education in Tanzania.

As a company, we value healthcare and believe in better access to required medicines. To do this, we either organise events that help the improvement of medicine or by donating money to those needing better healthcare. One example of our achievements in this sector was providing a mobile clinic with one years’ worth of vitamin A for a child in Turkana. A few years ago, we also helped to improve children’s health by providing medicine to a nursery school in Ethiopia. Last year, through our work organising a breast surgery masterclass for 50 surgeons from across the UK, we helped to save lives in Western Kenya by providing breast cancer screening to those who needed it.

These examples are only a small part of what we have been able to do so far to help vulnerable communities all around the world. The possibilities are endless and YOURGB will continue to support B1G1. We are so proud to be able to support these communities, while doing what we love every day!

If you want to share the love like YOURGB do, have a look at B1G1 and join us in becoming a business for good. Believe us, you won’t regret it.
