This week is Scotland’s Climate Week; it’s a chance to celebrate and encourage climate action, and to learn more about tackling climate change by sharing ‘Stories for Change’.

As a certified Carbon Neutral Company, we are passionate about the environment and tackling climate change, so we wanted to share the ways we are taking positive climate action in our day to day operations.

At YOURGB, we’re committed to supporting our clients to deliver sustainable events. We measure and monitor the carbon footprint of each of the events we design and produce through our YOURGB Carbon Footprint Calculator (ECFC) which is developed in collaboration with Carbon Footprint Ltd.

Our Carbon Footprint Calculator allows the team to incorporate sustainability from the earliest stages of event planning, and encourages us to focus on finding low-carbon and low-waste solutions for our clients from pitch through to on-site delivery.

The process starts by offsetting any residual carbon responsibly post-event. Key elements of our calculations cover considerations such as venue capacity and energy, travel, catering, material use, transport, accommodation, any hybrid / online audiences, and so much more.

As a further core service, YOURGB provides our industry recognised Carbon Neutral Event Certification in collaboration with Carbon Footprint. The accreditation is gained by offsetting 100% of the event’s emissions, and clients who proceed with the accreditation are awarded in the form of a digital badge, similar to the one pictured below! The offsetting cost is allocated to a global portfolio of verified carbon reduction projects, such as Wind Farm, Solar Power, and Community Safe Water projects.

YOURGB’S CARBON FOOTPRINT VERIFICATION

Alongside tracking the carbon emissions from each of the events we produce, we calculate and offset our own carbon footprint from our office operations year on year. Measuring the YOURGB carbon footprint is like giving the company an annual climate health check – it helps us become greener, smarter, and more successful.

This calculation covers gas and electricity, commuting to and from work, business travel, and so on. Our main win from this year is that our total emissions have decreased by 7% since last year!
