My Summer at YOURGB Events…

Hi! Eve here, and since June I have been working 3 days a week as a YOURgb Intern!

As an Events Management student at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, this opportunity has coincided perfectly with my studies helping me gain a wide variety of experience in both office and on-site event work.

From the get-go, YOURgb gave me the opportunity to be involved in a range of events such as The Royal Highland Show, The List Festival Launch Party, and TSB Pride of Scotland Awards – just to name a few!

Favourite Event?

Without a doubt, my favourite event that I worked on was The List event. I was involved for the duration of the project, meaning I got the opportunity to be committed throughout the whole event process and see it unfold from start to finish. YOURgb were extremely open to letting me get stuck into work and allowed me to take on responsibilities straight away which benefitted my learning greatly.

Favourite Memories?

There is no such thing as a typical week in events but some of my office roles consisted of guest management, sponsorship management and research tasks. On-site I was given multiple opportunities, from VIP guest management to presenting on a Facebook live stream for the Royal Highland Show, no event was ever the same! Presenting was one of my favourite moments on-site as it was extremely out of my comfort zone and was a moment where I had to be brave – an important core value that YOURgb believe in. This variety allowed me to gain confidence in areas I had never worked before and understand what type of events I work best in.

Part of the YOURgb Team

YOURgb are a team of inspiring individuals, and I was immediately made to feel like I was part of the team. The sense of community from the get-go was amazing and the support I gained from everyone was extremely encouraging. Learning to tap into my creative side and try new things in an environment where you can be brave and supported was the best thing about working at YOURgb and allowed me to form strong relationships with the team.

I have loved working with the team this summer and have made some incredible memories alongside a vast amount of experience. I am looking forward to putting all of my new skills to use as I enter my fourth and final year of university and hope to help out at future events with YOURgb!
